Clients Expand Scope of Services with Blue Hill

In 2022 approximately one quarter of our client base expanded their scope of services with Blue Hill. These additional support services range from operations monitoring for Mainframe and iSeries platforms, production control/job scheduling, applications assessments and ongoing support for maintenance of critical applications, to Hosted Solutions.

Whether clients are hosted within Blue Hill’s Private Cloud or receiving support services delivered remotely, Blue Hill offers 24/365 100% On-Shore selective infrastructure services. The client chooses the support function, the timeframe, and the specific schedule (e.g., shift coverage or baseline number of monthly hours) they require.

Finding skilled Mainframe Technical and Applications professionals is becoming more difficult these days. That is why Blue Hill rises to our clients’ needs by providing part-time and full-time staff augmentation as well as backup support to clients’ existing team members.

Our solution is to assign each client a primary staff lead with the required skillsets dedicated to that client. The primary team that supports the client conducts on-going and continuous cross training and knowledge transfer within our enterprise to sustain our client environments during vacations and illnesses.

The same team that conducts the initial discovery and knowledge transfer with each client will be the same team who will support that client throughout the engagement. There are never any handoffs.

Expanded Scope Success

This County Government selected Blue Hill for our long term experience and expertise in supporting z/VSE systems. Blue Hill started the engagement by providing a fully managed Mainframe-as-a-Service (MFaaS) Hosting solution. This past year they decided to have Blue Hill provide the required VSE Mainframe Cobol application support at a baseline of 40 hours per month.

This City Government required a robust solution having sufficient longevity, so their day-to-day operations were sustained while legacy applications were migrated off the mainframe. The engagement commenced with remote z/VM, z/VSE technical support until the client’s hardware reached end of life. At that point they expanded the scope of services with Blue Hill and seamlessly migrated into a fully managed Mainframe-as-a-Service Hosting solution at our Private Cloud production data center.

This Ivy League University selected Blue Hill for our flexibility in providing Mainframe support services. We provide 24/7 Remote Mainframe Production Control/Job Scheduling, batch job management and monitoring services, as well as first level support for job abends, changes, and ad hoc requests. This University added Technical Systems support a year later.

This State University wanted to “test the waters” by initially receiving remote Technical Systems and Database Administration support to replace the retiring workforce. After a year, this University was completely confident in Blue Hill and chose to expand the scope of services and transitioned into a fully managed Mainframe-as-a-Service Hosting solution.

Blue Hill provides this Insurance Company with a 24/365 fully managed AS/400 hosted environment. After the first year, they expanded their scope of services with Blue Hill to include Mainframe Hosting. Blue Hill provides the required hardware and IBM software, while they are initially retaining the support services for this environment until staff retirements
